Terza Missione
In 2021 I contributed to the Terza Missione activities developed by ISIA Urbino around the figure of Giancarlo De Carlo, one of the most influential architects connected to the city. My role focused on the collection and preparation of photographic material that became part of a broader cultural program dedicated to his legacy.
This work was linked to the project Spiriti – Otto fotografi raccontano Giancarlo De Carlo a Urbino, promoted by the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche and ISIA Urbino, curated by Jonathan Pierini and Marco Pierini. While the exhibition itself gathered works by eight photographers, my involvement lay in the earlier stage of research and archiving: tracing, selecting, and organizing images that documented the layered relationship between De Carlo’s architectural interventions and the city of Urbino.
The commission formed part of ISIA’s Terza Missione initiative, a program that extends academic activity beyond the classroom and into the public sphere through exhibitions, workshops, and collaborative projects with local institutions. By contributing to this process, I engaged in a form of cultural mediation where photography operates not only as documentation, but also as a means of activating memory, sustaining dialogue with the territory, and re-examining the role of De Carlo’s work in contemporary Urbino.
