UBIF It was founded in Vicenza as a training program in the field of contemporary photography and has continued with a group of photographers and enthusiasts dedicated to promoting cultural activities related to the world of visual art. Since July 2020, UBIF has become a non-profit cultural association with the aim of promoting the practice, development, and dissemination of cultural and recreational activities in the fields of photography, art, communication, scientific outreach, cinema, and music; of fostering the improvement of individual skills through a deeper cultural understanding of different themes and technical aspects; of encouraging dialogue among members, with other figures in the world of photography and with other associations; and of pursuing the search for new forms of expression and new voices within the cultural, artistic, and photographic fields.
Following Covid and the first experiences of quarantine, the QUADERNI series was born, along with its first production.

QUADERNI #0 Spazio/Tempo – Sedici esperienze di quarantena, in which the images created by 16 photographers during the quarantine period caused by the Coronavirus, in March and April 2020, were collected. All proceeds from the sale of the book, net of printing costs, were donated to the association Donna chiama Donna and to the Anti-Violence Center of Vicenza.

The following section presents the continuation of UBIF’s collective process with QUADERNI #1 – Derive – Per un immaginario del camminare, in this new issue of the journal Quaderni are collected the photographic outcomes of the ongoing research by seventeen authors on the theme of walking—an activity that has always been linked to photography for its ability to activate visual processes, and which, in this case, we were also interested in exploring in its metaphorical sense. Moving through space arises from a natural need dictated by primary necessities, yet it immediately becomes the gesture par excellence that shapes the landscape and allows human beings to inhabit the world consciously. Starting from this premise, we set out to analyze this gesture in its aesthetic dimension, in its generative capacity: art, architecture, sculpture, landscape, performance, but also thought; these are the legitimate offspring of this simple and ancient action, which continues to create new relationships with the territory and among individuals themselves.
